The debate around immigration in Alabama has not only been racially charged and heated, but at times the rhetoric has turned towards violence.
Reported by reporter Venton Blandin, at a recent town hall meeting Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks stated, “As your congressman on the house floor, I will do anything short of shooting them.” Watch the interview here.
The ever respected and even-tempered state Senator Scott Beason, one of the chief sponsors of the bill, told an audience in February 2011 that
“‘The reality is that if you allow illegal immigration to continue in your area you will destroy yourself eventually . . . .
